When people think of Egypt they think of
antiquities and pyramids but there is so much more to Egypt that
just that. Of course it is a great place to see all of the best
heritage from the ancient world such as Pyramids and temples but
it is also part of the Holy Land. There are desert treks, scuba
diving, golf, fishing, birding expeditions and so much more.
This is the land that gave birth to what is known to be the
first great civilization. Most visitors are shocked to see that
the pyramids are just the start of the archaeological iceberg.
There have been many dynasties that have played their part in
Egypt's architectural wealth such as Pharaonic nations, ancient
Greeks, Romans, Christians and Arabs. On the west end of Egypt
there are oceans of sand stretched into the Sahara.
As rich as the land is in Egypt, the history is
just as rich with the landscape and lively character of its people.
The history is also the longest than most of the rest of the world.
Egypt was enjoying a sophisticated life while Europe was still
wrapped in animal skins and wielding clubs. Egypt is dedicated to
keeping up order in the universe. It was the Greek historian
Herodotus who noticed that Egypt was the gift of the Nile and yes
most people say its just a cliché but it is true. Ancient Egyptians
say without the Nile, Egypt wouldn't even exist. No one really knows
the exact history but they do know that many thousands of years ago
there was a climate change in North Africa which changed the weather
in Egypt and Egypt became very dry. This was a dramatic time for
people in Africa and many had to move and there was only one place
for them to go which was the Nile.
The Nile was usually the beginning as well as
the end for most Egyptians. They were born right next to it and had
their first bath in its waters. The Nile is what made most things
possible such as the vegetables in the fields, the chickens, cows,
ducks and fish on their plates. It also filled their drinks when
they were thirsty. Even when people of Egypt would pass away their
body would be taken next to the river and the water was used from
the Nile before they were buried. Many people like the climate in
Egypt due to it being so predictable, Egypt is usually hot and dry
except in the winter months of December through February it can get
a bit cold. The cold winter months are also the most popular time to
go, its during the summer months (June to August) that its not so
busy.
